So what are added sugars? Added sugars are sugars and syrups that are added to foods or beverages during processing or preparation. This does not include naturally occurring sugars such as
those that occur in milk and fruits.
There are many names for added sugars that may be in processed foods and listed on the label ingredients list, including corn syrup, corn sweeteners, dextrose, fructose, high fructose corn syrup, honey, glucose, maltose, and molasses.
